On the first day of digital photography, I was ready to learn a lot more about taking pictures because I really love it. When I was a kid, I would always take my dad's camera and take pictures of really random things, but I had so much fun doing it. I decided to take this class because I wanted to learn how to properly create an image and I was excited to increase my knowledge in photography. During the first week of class, Mr. Bush told us to "get out our cameras and take some pictures." and this was the result.... Looking back at these pictures I realize how much I have grown in this class. I love all of the things I have accomplished and growing as a photographer was a really great experience for me. My favorite/best photos I took this year were ones from a photo assignment. I decided to shoot nature that week and I loved going outside and taking pictures, especially when you have a beautiful backyard. I went out early in the morning when it was rally foggy and this was the result....

In this demo, I learned how to take a picture where the subject is clear and the background is blurry. I thought this was really interesting because of all the techniques we were taught to get a good picture in the end.
In this assignment, we had to take multiple pictures of ourself in different positions. In photoshop, we created one single image with all the pictures combined. I really liked this assignment because it was so cool to see the pictures coming together and editing at the end was really fun.
For this assignment, I decided to take pictures of people. I used the techniques we learned in class for portraits and applied them to my photo assignment. I took pictures in two different settings, by a window with the sun shining through and in a room with less sunlight and a grey background. In this assignment, we took two different portraits. One by the window with the light from the sun and another one in the studio with three different lights. I really liked this assignment because the images look very different but they both have really good quality.
In this assignment, I decided to do black and white because I'm really interested in how different the images look when the colors are taken out. I took a lot of my pictures from my nature shoot because I am most proud of those and it's really cool how the black and white effect can change the image completely. I also took a lot of pictures of quotes because I think when the image is in black and white, the quote has a new effect. In this assignment, we had to find our own photoshop tutorial. I searched for one that looked interesting and one that used new techniques that we haven't learned in class yet. I found a youtube video on how to create a double exposure image. This was a really interesting and fun experience for me because it taught me a lot of new things you can do in the application and I created a really cool image! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-19z_ldzPes
In this assignment, we learned how to create panoramics by taking three or four pictures and using photoshop to merge them together. This was really interesting process because the photographer takes the pictures, but the computer figures out how to line them up to create one cohesive image.
This week I decided to try light painting and it was really fun and interesting! I loved experimenting with different lights and subjects in the picture. I especially liked this string of colored lights, they made a lot of cool designs and added a pop of color to the image. I also experimented with using a lighter, it was really cool but when you move the flame too fast it flickers and that shows in the picture. EventThis week I decided to shoot a birthday party! I really loved this assignment because I got to take pictures of the people I love the most. I really liked taking pictures of my grandma when she was opening resents because she looked so happy. I also liked taking pictures of the cake with and without the candles lit. I experimented with the shutter speed and aperture to see what fit for the lighting and situation. |
